Giufà and the Pot

One day, Giufà borrowed a large pot from a neighbor because he had some guests visiting for dinner. In the morning Giufà returned the pot accompanied by another smaller pot. 

The neighbor, amazed, asked: “Why are you returning to me a little pot that I did not lend you?”

Giufà, in a mysterious way, said: “The pot gave birth!”

The neighbor, happy to take advantage of the opportunity, took the two pots without saying another word more.

After a few weeks, Giufà went to his neighbor to ask to borrow the large pot again. The neighbor was only too happy to lend it to him again and was already thinking of the convenience of receiving back a second pot as before. This time, however, Giufà did not show up for many days.

Annoyed, the neighbour went to Giufa and complained. “Giufà, give me my pot! I need it right away!”

Giufà calmly replied: “Poor pot! I’m sorry to tell you but your pot is dead! I wanted to save you from pain!” 

“Tell me, Giufà, how a pot can die?!” the neighbour angrily demanded

Giufà said: “In the same way it can give birth!”
